PLATE TECTONICS UNIT
Big Idea: Plate tectonic theory explains the consequences of tectonic plate interactions
Learning Goals:
•Explain how Plate Tectonic Theory unifies evidence from:
•Continental drift theory
•Distribution of mountain ranges, volcanoes, and earthquake epicentres
•Sea-floor spreading and hot spots
•Explain how convection of heat within Eath's interior drives plat motion and creates unique features at different plate boundaries
•Describe plate tectonic settings within BC and local geological terrains including:
•features and processes
•First Peoples knowledge
