Sci 8 Biology Unit Big Idea: Life Processes are performed at the cellular level.

By the end of the Biology unit you should be able to:
  • List 7 characteristics of living things.
  • Understand the three points of cell theory.
  • Demonstrate Microscope knowledge including proper handling, parts, resolving power, calculating magnification
  • Relate the main features and properties of cells to their functions
  • Difference between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells
  • Difference between animal and plant cells
  • Identify the process of Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration
  • Describe the relationship of micro-organisms with other living things
  • Know the basic functions of the immune system, including the roles of first and second lines of defence
  • Know the advantages and disadvantages of vaccinations and antibiotics
  • Understand socio-economic impacts of epidemics and pandemics on human populations
